To know that people are reading my blog and enjoying the content so much that they feel I deserve an award is not only a wonderful ego bust, but let's me know that I have moved forward from where I was a little over two months ago, which was without a blog and without know so many wonderful people.
1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you this award 2. Share 7 things about yourself 3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic. 4. Contact the bloggers you’ve picked and let them know about the award.

This year the author I discovered was Sarah Dessen. How I didn't discover her earlier is beyond me and I curse myself every time for passing up her books before I happen to pick up The Truth About Forever this January. I've loved reading her books. She truly knows how to tell a story.
*So to everyone new to my blog: Welcome! Anyone old and here for a visit: Welcome! And to anyone who loves a good Sarah Dessen book: I know where you're coming from! :D
Who's your new-to-you author?
And also, I would really appreciate if you would check out THIS LINK and see if you'd be able to help me out with something. Thanks!

Summary:

Now, after ten years of wishing for a normal life, she finally has to accept her role in the centuries-old war against the darkest outcasts of Faerie: the Dark Elves. Aided by a gorgeous half-fey dropout, Donna must race to save her best friend’s life - even if it means betraying one of the world’s greatest secrets and confronting the very thing that destroyed her family.
Also, speaking of this amazing book, Eleni at La Femme Readers is holding an EPIC contest and this book is one of the prizes you can win!! She also has a bunch of other newly anticipated 2011 books up for grabs!
Summary: THE ULTIMATE QUEST FOR REDEMPTION. On his eighteenth birthday, Aaron begins to hear strange voices and is convinced he is going insane. But having moved from foster home to foster home, Aaron doesn't know whom he can trust. He wants to confide in the cute girl from class, but fears she'll confirm he's crazy. Then a mysterious man begins following Aaron. He knows about Aaron's troubled past and his new powers. And he has a message for Aaron: As the son of a mortal and an angel, Aaron has been chosen to redeem the Fallen. Aaron tries to dismiss the news and resists his supernatural abilities. But he must accept his new found heritage -- and quickly. For the dark powers are gaining strength, and are hell-bent on destroying him....
Overall:
Review: The Fallen was first published back in March 2003 and Simon & Schuster recently republished the four book series with new covers. The first two were bound together. I debated about reviewing the two books separately, but they are going together.
I'm going to start by saying that I'm glad that this was from a guys POV because I don't get to read that very often in YA books. Aaron was a nice head to be inside of (even though it was told in third-person and there were a few alternating POVs). Aaron was just like you're average teenage boy. He went to high school, he had a family (though he's adopted), he had a dog, and he had a crush on the most beautiful girl in school. Life was pretty easy.
Until he started to be able to read his dog's mind.
And as if that's not enough, he's been having terrifying dreams about people with wings, he can suddenly speak and understand any language, and the girl he likes, Vilma, finally takes notice in him. Great timing.
I found the first book of The Fallen to be better than the second. Though in the second book we get to hear a lot more of Gabriel, his dog. Gabriel was probably my favorite character of the book! There were several times he had me laughing from his thoughts and it makes you wonder what your dog is thinking of at the moment.
Though, these books are far from being funny all the time. There is a good amount of action that takes place which I really liked. The author did a great job at describing that battles. Maybe even a little too much, because I was definitely grossed out a few times, but the writing was really good. Also, the villains nor the author were afraid to kill in the book, you have been warned.
Another character that I really enjoyed, though he was a totally jerk for most of the time, was Cameal. He is the person that will help Aaron fulfill his destiny (no matter how much he doesn't want to). And he will also discover the wonderful delight of French Fries (yum).
In a nutshell: I really enjoyed reading the first two books of The Fallen. They made me laugh, cry, and never want to be able to hear my dog talk while he's hungry. I'm really looking forward to getting the next two book in the series and I'd recommend these books to anyone who loves a good adventure with a hint of comedy/horror and a pinch of a talking dog.
Cover: I can't say I don't love the model on the cover XD

In other The Fallen related news:
So raise you hand if you knew that The Fallen had been made into a movie?
*hands limp at sides*
Well, it was news to me! And you would not believe the reaction I had once I saw who was the lead character!
And, No, you're eyes are not playing tricks on you! That there is our very sexy vampire, Paul Wesley, who plays Stephen on The Vampire Dairies! Awww, doesn't he look so adorable in this picture??
Also, it just so happen that The Fallen (all three movies apparently) will be playing on August 3-5 on ABC Family. I know I'll definitely be checking that out!

Question of the Week:
What are you currently reading?
Well lets see. I was actually just at Barnes & Nobles (though I shouldn't have been, bad me) and I started to just read serveral books right in the middle of the ailse. Haha. Yeah i do that a lot. Sometimes i even just sit in B&N and read a book that i want to read but don't want to spend money on. And then I get crazy looks when people see me carrying around ten different books (and now i'm rambling....)
Anyway... what I'm reading now:
North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley
I'm really loving this book! I've heard nothing but great thing about it and so far I agree!
Linger by Maggie Stiefvater
Just started it today! I'm really liking it and I'm biggin' the green ink ;)
The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan If you read one of my reviews before you'll know I'm a big sucker for dystopian books! Looove them. And so far I'm loove Carrie Ryan at the moment for giftin gme with this world! :)
So there you have it. Don't mind that it says I'm reading The Fallen under my currently reading. I finished that and am just too lazy to change it XD
So if you're new to my blog Welcome! And feel free to leave a comment! If you know my blog Welcome! I'd still love to hear from you! And if you're some nasty person whose going to comment on all my spelling errors Welcome! But I know already.
Completely freaking AMAZING!! Now put your eyes back in you head and go over and enter! And if you do (which you totally should) please, PLEASE mention that you found the contest through me :) Thanks!
Summary: Sixteen-year-old Yara Silva has always known that ghosts walk alongside the living. Her grandma, like the other females in her family, is a Waker, someone who can see and communicate with ghosts. Yara grew up watching her grandmother taunted and scorned for this unusual ability and doesn't want that to be her future. She has been dreading the day when she too would see ghosts, and is relieved that the usually dominant Waker gene seems to have skipped her, letting her live a normal teenage life. However, all that changes for Yara on her first day at her elite boarding school when she discovers the gene was only lying dormant. She witnesses a dark mist attack Brent, a handsome fellow student, and rushes to his rescue. Her act of heroism draws the mist's attention, and the dark spirit begins stalking her. Yara finds herself entrenched in a sixty-year-old curse that haunts the school, threatening not only her life, but the lives of her closest friends as well. Yara soon realizes that the past she was trying to put behind her isn't going to go quietly.

Hey Everyone! It's time for another Blog Hop! This is a weekly meme hosted by Crazy-For-Books.
The Blog Hop is used to help bloggers get to know each other and visit different blogs and every week there is a question asked that you can answer.
Question this week:
RIGHT THIS INSTANT, WHAT BOOKS ARE YOU DYING TO GET YOUR HANDS ON (PAST, PRESENT, OR FUTURE)?
At the moment, I am literally DYING to get my hands on Mockingjay! I'm painfully counting down the days until it's released. I'm also really looking forward to getting Halo by Alexander Adornetto and The Light of Asteria by Elizabeth Isaacs!!
So, to those who are having their first stop at my blog, Welcome!
Hey everyone! I want you to welcome Amber! I was lucky enough to have gotten the chance to interview her on her debut novel, The Flash of a Firefly. You hear that all you who are participating in the Debut Author Challenge? Here's another one you can add to your list!
The Flash of a Firefly was released at the beginning of June and here is the cover and summary:
Summary: Trying to put his past behind him, Kaden moves to New York City where he creates a new life for himself. And that isn't easy, considering the fact that he's a six-hundred-year-old vampire who hasn't fed on a human in more than a century. Unfortunately, the past isn't something you can always escape from. When old enemies resurface, they come with a message. His master wants him back and refusing isn't an option. Confronted with losing both his freedom, as well as the human that has captivated him, Kaden struggles to hold onto his humanity while controlling his darker side. He knows the showdown is inevitable. He must find a way to stand his ground.
Sounds awesome, right? Well here is Amber Riley herself!
Hey Amber! It’s a pleasure to have you on my blog and thanks for having this interview. You have just had your debut book published, so you’re new to the published world. Tell us a little about yourself and your book. Thanks, I’m glad to be here. Well, a little about me - I’m 23 and I live in a small town in central New York. I love my cats to pieces and have had a passion for writing since I was little. The Flash of a Firefly is my debut novel. I approached the vampire angle in a new way, trying to give a fresh feel to an old topic. I think that most people will relate to at least one character.
How did you get into writing? I guess you could say that writing got into me. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have some sort of plot running around in my head. It just came naturally.
Where did you get inspiration for your book? I’ve always had a thing for vampires, but I give credit to the main character for my inspiration. When I began writing, I had absolutely no plot. I had ideas for a few scenes, but they only came after Kaden. In a way, he told me the story.
Who was your favorite character to write? Why?
I loved writing them all! My favorite would have to be Sullivan, though. He’s always so calm and collected, but it comes from a rather tragic event in his past. He’s mysterious, even to me.
Which character do you most relate to? I would probably say Lyn. It’s not just because she’s human, but I don’t want to give away any details by explaining what I find most relatable.
So, why were vampires your choice to write about? Why not another supernatural creature? There’s just something about vampires. They’re immortal and strong, not to mention sexy. I’m actually planning something with skin walkers after this series, but I’m more partial to the vamps so they came first.
When I first read the title of your book vampires did not immediately come to mind. Is there a meaning behind it you can explain to us? I get that a lot, but yes. The title actually comes from a quote by Crowfoot – “What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.” It has two meanings. To an immortal, a human life fleeting. It would give something away to say the second. But, as a hint, I will say that there is more to life than living.
What are some books you have recently read and/or recommend? The Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris is my favorite. I also just finished Fallen by Lauren Kate, which I loved.
Describe you book in one sentence. The Flash of a Firefly is about a vampire who has to fight to stay free of his past while holding onto his humanity.
Quick Fire! Hot or Cold? Cold Up or Down? Up Tea or Coffee? Tea Angel or Demon? Angel
Thank you so much for doing this interview Amber! Is there anything else you’d like to say? Thank you! It was fun. I would like to say that if you love to write, don’t let fear of criticism hold you back. Even the best writers have people that don’t like their work. Go for it. ____________________________________________________________________
Doesn't she sound wonderful! I want to thank you again Amber for doing this interview and the best of luck on your new book!

XVI by Julia Karr
Summary: In the year 2150, being a girl isn’t necessarily a good thing, especially when your sixteenth (read sex-teenth) birthday is fast approaching. Her mother is brutally stabbed and left for dead. Before dying, she entrusts a secret book to Nina, telling her to deliver it to Nina's father. But, first Nina has to find him; since for fifteen years he's been officially dead. Complications arise when she rescues Sal, a mysterious, and ultra hot guy. He seems to like Nina, but also seems to know more about her father than he’s letting on. So this is where I will display all the awesome covers that are being released for books! I may even have something on International covers, too. I hope you enjoy, I know I love looking at them!

Thoughts: This is a beautiful cover! I really love it! I'm guessing that the person is Bonnie, since she's the only one with red hair I can think of. Unless it's the girl fox-spirit! But I don't think so. I wonder if this means that Bonnie with have a big roll in the final book?
Summary (goodreads): Freak. That’s what they called seventeen year-old Donna Underwood in high school after a horrific fey attack that killed her father when she was just a child. Her injuries and rehabilitation resulted in magically enhanced strength, thanks to the iron tattoos branding her hands and arms. As a child of the alchemists, she is both blessed and cursed with a magical heritage that doesn't leave much room for boys, parties and homework.

Aided by a gorgeous half-fey dropout, Donna must race to save her best friend’s life - even if it means betraying one of the world’s greatest secrets and confronting the very thing that destroyed her family.
Thoughts: This looks like a great new book! I love the front used, it's so lonely. Also the iron tattoo on the girl's arm is stunning! Can't wait for it to come out!

(The Full summary was too long to put up so I shortened it.)
Thoughts: This is the Sequel to The Demon King. I really like the gold ring surrounded by a bright white light. Also the little design is the corners are beautiful!
There was no summary for the book yet, but this is the third installment to the Wonderous Strange series. In my opinion, this is the best cover do far. The woman on the cover is beautiful!

To any Authors or Publishers who want me to review and/or promote your book, I would be happy to! I except ARC and finished copies. If you would like me to promote your book through a giveaway, I'd be happy to do that, too. Authors if you would like me to have an author interview or guest post you are welcome to ask; I'd love you on my blog. You can contact me at: VanillaMusic15@aol.com. Thanks!
My reviews are post on my blog, goodreads, and Amazon.
