Author Interview: Elizabeth Scott!

363405

Today I have Elizabeth Scott here, author of Living Dead Girl! It’s an honor that she let me interview her and I hope you enjoy it!

Tell us a little about yourself.

I'm pretty boring, LOL! I like to write, I like to read, I like to watch TV, and I love spending time with my husband and dog. (See? Boring!)

What is one of your favorite part about writing?

Finishing that first draft!

What inspired you to write the story of Alice?

A dream, of all things--one that I had over and over until I finally realized I had to write her story.

Living Dead Girl could not be a more perfect title for the book. How did it come to be?

It was always the title--she thought of herself that way in the dream and I knew it was not just who she was, but the title too (I like to know my titles before I start writing, so that was serendipitous)

There are many different messages you can receive from reading Living Dead Girl, but what was your central message you were trying to get to your readers through book?

I wasn't thinking about a message--I don't like message books at all, myself--I just wanted to tell Alice's story.

I know that your newest book, Grace, was just released. Congrats! Do you have any other projects planned for the future?

Thanks for the congratulations, and I do have more books in the work--the next one, Between Here and Forever will be in stores on May 24, 2011...

The best ideas come from dreams :)
Great interview!!

Wonders if it was a dream or a horrible nightmare because Alice's story isn't anything close to dreamlike.

I think it is pretty cool when dreams inspire a story. I also like that she wasn't trying for a message, she just wanted to tell a story.

I don't really care if there is no special message in a book. I love engaging stories. It's enough for me :)

It's amazing how she doesn't think of the message the book would convey, just trying to write a story. I'm not into message book as well, but I know how to appreciate a good book, and Elizabeth Scott writes great books!

I love that a dream inspired her, I totally get it! I hope she has a lot more so she can fulfill the brilliant first drafts for more awesome books! "Living Dead Girl" sounds like a v. interesting read, and I can't wait to hunt it down to see for myself - only to have it confirm suspicions :)

I think it's interesting that the idea for this book came from a dream although it does sound more like a nightmare!

I think a boring life tends to lead to a really active imagination so there's nothing wrong with that! Especially in a writer!

"I wasn't thinking about a message--I don't like message books at all, myself" Oh, I liked that! I don't like books that the message is obvious... it sounds phony!

She sounds like a cool person :)
