Title: Living Dead Girl

Author: Elizabeth Scott

Publisher: Simon Pulse/ Simon & Schuster

Pages: 170

Summary: Once upon a time I was a little girl who disappeared.
Once upon a time my name was not Alice.
Once upon a time I didn't know how lucky I was.

When Alice was ten, Ray took her away from her family, her friends -- her life. She learned to give up all power, to endure all pain. She waited for the nightmare to be over.

Now Alice is fifteen and Ray still has her, but he speaks more and more of her death. He does not know it is what she longs for. She does not know he has something more terrifying than death in mind for her.

This is Alice's story. It is one you have never heard, and one you will never, ever forget.

Overall: 5 stars
Five-Star

Review:

Living Dead Girl is a novel that will truly stay with you long after you have finished it. It has an unforgettable story told from the voice of a fifteen year old girl who has been abducted at the age of ten. We read of her long journey and hardships as she tries to find a way out of a life where she is only living on the outside but all dead in the inside.

Alice isn’t her real name, it’s the name Ray gave her, but now she is Alice and no one else. She is trapped under the controlling and menacing gaze of Ray, who keeps her locked away from the rest of the world. She dares not to run because of the deadly consequences Ray has drilled into her head. She dare not hope for freedom, but she does. Now that Alice is older and it’s about time, she figures, for Ray to get a new Alice, she so sets out in hopes to find someone that will replace her in her sorrows and mercy. All she wants in freedom.

This highly emotion packed book will leave you with a punched-in-the-gut kind of feeling. When you are done with Alice’s journey it is not one you will regret. You will see a new perspective, a new light. The pages will keep on turning and by the end you’ll wonder where the rest of them went.

I flew through this book in about an hour then turned to the beginning and quickly re-read it. It's one of the first novels I wanted to reach in and pull the main character out of and the switching POVs were so effective. So glad to read you enjoyed it too! Thanks for the review!

Man this book was a bit of a shock, very good though. Have you read Pretty Girl by Laura Wiess?

I've read several of Elizabeth Scott's other stories, and they were all amazing! This one sounds like it's pretty good too, but it's definitely a lot darker than the other ones I've read. Awesome review! I'll to check this book out :)

Wow, this book sounds pretty heavy, a nice contrast to the light and fluffy reads I've had lately. I agree with a previous commenter, I hope there's a positive ending! :)
